Jesus, Our High Priest D7

Hebrews 7:26-28 Image

Day 7

We need a chief priest who is holy, innocent, pure, set apart from sinners, and who has the highest position in heaven. We need a priest who doesn’t have to bring daily sacrifices as those chief priests did. First, they brought sacrifices for their own sins, and then they brought sacrifices for the sins of the people. Jesus brought the sacrifice for the sins of the people once and for all when he sacrificed himself. Moses’ Teachings designated mortals as chief priests even though they had weaknesses. But God’s promise, which came after Moses’ Teachings, designated the Son who forever accomplished everything that God required. Hebrews 7:26‭-‬28

God promised to give us a once and for all, a forever, high priest, Jesus. Jesus’ actions completed, finished, and this fulfillment was perfect for God’s requirements for Jesus to take on the role of High Priest.

How does this apply to our lives today? How do we apply it to our current lives?

For one, we need to believe and accept this truth and gift from God. He is no liar. Second, we need to be trustworthy godly children of God. We need to be honorable and have high integrity in our lives. Thirdly, live our lives as an example of Christ Jesus. Not an example of human behavior. Human nature is wretched. It’s in God’s word; not my words. There is nothing we can offer to what God offers. What we offer only muddies the waters. Lastly, seek God in all we do. It’s all about Him, not us. The more we focus on God and live our lives according to His guidelines the less trouble and strife we get into. That’s not to say we’ll never run into trouble or strife. It’s all part of our spiritual testing and growth. We need it. We need each other as part of the body of Christ Jesus.

Dear Abba Yah, Father God, thank You, profusely. I can’t say it enough. You are amazing and beyond words of wonderful. Show us and use us, Your children, what, and where we need to be and do to bless You. Make us shine so bright that it draws lost souls like moths to light. Thank You, in advance, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
