Serve the LORD!

Scripture

My takeaway:
The ancient ancestors spent a lot of time worshipping idols. God told them they had to choose between Him or their idols.

He already gave us the Ten Commandments. One of those commandments was to have no other gods before Him. It seems like a “no duh” thing. However, He does give us a choice.

Well, the people replied in v. 16: “We would never abandon the Lord and serve other gods.” Just before that, Joshua said, “But, as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

I do too! I serve Yahweh! It’s our choice. Whatever the choice, we will reap the consequences of that choice.

Let’s remember what God has done, is doing, and will continue doing as He says He will. Remember His blessings & promises. He “is” faithful! How shall we accomplish this? How will we apply this to our lives?

  • First, we must give up all our idols.
    They do us no good!
  • Second, we replace those idols with
    a. God’s word.
    b. Prayer.
    c. Christian family fellowship, praise, and worship to HIM only.
    d. Becoming a disciple of Him and sharing the Gospel of Jesus to help lead the lost sheep to the Shepherd/Jesus.
  • Finally, if you’re one of those lost sheep being brought into the fold/family of GOD, reach out to me so I can pray with and for you, help you find a Christian family if you don’t have one, yet, and to make sure you don’t fall through the cracks and get forgotten.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Yahweh, El Shaddai, I lift up those who are on the precipice teetering one way or the other, ready to go which way or another. I pray that they lean into YOU. I pray they find peace in YOU and serve only YOU. Thank You, Yahweh, for all those reading today’s scripture and devotion. I pray they are blessed. Thank You, Yahweh, in advance, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Knowing the Will of God!

Scripture
“If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE Lord YOUR GOD, Deuteronomy 28:58; If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching. 1 John 1:8‭-‬10

If ever we say we don’t know the will of God… It’s because we ignore His word. His word is alive and vibrant. It’s within the pages of His Holy Word; The Holy Bible.

Obeying God blesses us. By obeying Him the blessings will come and stay with us.

We mustn’t be in denial that we’re a sinful people. We can accept that and then confess our sins so that He will forgive us and cleanse us. Otherwise, we are in essence saying God is a liar. It’s impossible for God to lie. So, we’re the ones in the wrong, not God.

We must stop being in denial of the Truth of God and start submitting to Him and obeying Him. We must surrender our selfish, self-centeredness to Him. We must stop limiting Him in our lives. It’s easy. Just do it! (My [Kimberly’s] favorite quote by Nike, the shoe company!)

There are no excuses. We must wake up to ourselves and realize that we’re holding God back in our lives. We also must realize that we’re unable to save ourselves. There’s nothing we can do to save ourselves. God doesn’t need our help.

Be blessed by the BEST, God!

Dear Adonai, Abba Yah, I pray for forgiveness of sins I don’t even realize I’m committing as well as the readers of this devo blog. Also, blatant sins that we know we’re doing and are just being complacent of them and ignoring the truth of the matter and being defiant toward You. Show us the way, the truth, to You. Thank You in advance, Abba Yah, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Warning From God

Scripture:

God is warning the people. This warning is relevant to current day as well. Why?

One, because people are just as rebellious and forgetful today of God’s commands, promises, and blessings. Two, because people want to do things in their own steam. Three, people simply don’t trust God.

We’re hoodwinked by satan. He disguises himself like Granny, our best friend, or some sort of tasty food we really like. That being said, satan is good at mimicking and lying.

We, for some odd reason, believe lies told to us as if they are the truth. Therein lies the rub.

Why do we do that? Please leave a comment or a prayer request.

One reason I believe that we believe the lies is because we lack the true understanding of God’s word. The second reason, I believe is because people are rebellious. Just like a little kid who wants their way. Finally, a question for us; what then should we do?

Application:

  • Pray continually.
You can do this with your eyes open. That way you can pray while you’re driving, etc.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says this: Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
  • Spend personal quiet time with God studying His word and talking with Him.
You can do this anytime. There are no hard and fast rules on when and where to do this. I do it mostly in the early morning. Sometimes, though, I do it in the middle of the day or even at night.
  • Get together with other fellow Christians; fellowship, worship, and praise God together. Be uplifting and encouraged by what you gain from this. Be very careful about fake Christianity, however. You will be led astray faster than you can say, “Hippity Hoppity”. Being in The Word and praying to God will make it very clear when you’re in the presence of fake Christians.
  • Make sure you’re attending services and being fed by a shepherd of God’s word. The previous bullet point comment about fake Christianity stands here also. False teaching is everywhere these days. Know the difference.

Prayer: Dear Father God, I lift up the readers of this blog. I pray for their spiritual well being and that they would seek You in all their coming in and going out. Thank You for Your word to help keep us on track. Thank You for Jesus being our Salvation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
