Moving across the country to another land was devastating and a massive culture shock. Everything was different from the food to the people as well as the land.
When I was 12 yrs old my parents decided to move back home. The military had taken them away for decades.
You’ve seen movies and read stories of these types of scenarios.
We all try to fit in.
However, as people of the Kingdom of our most high God, Yahweh, we’re not of this world.
The word even tells us not to be of it.
But, yet, we feel the need to belong and fit in. Yes, even me.
So, as that tween, I desperately wanted to be a part of those around me. I got stuck into sports, etc. For what seemed like an Eternity, I tried. I continually got a swift kick up the backside from Yahweh, and ignoring it. You know, like a rebellious kid. I found out, eventually, I would never be a part and would never mix with them.
This truth is graphically made clear in the Bible, the holy book. Paul says: Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come (1 Corinthians10:11).
Our peers try to pressure us into being like them. When we surrender to that influence, we become bound with habits, are haunted with a guilty conscience, and are haunted by the demons of our actions. Paul calls us to avoid taking part in the world and adds that if we do avoid it, Yahweh will receive us and will be a Father to us, and we will be His sons and daughters (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).
The gift of salvation is our adoption into His family making us a part of Himself.
