Born of God

1John-4_7-8 imageDay 17 – Born of God

Know God. Love God. Being born of God you will desire to love others, even your enemies.

It says in 1 John 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.

It also says in John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Without love, we do not have God. Without God we would live in torment. I’ve been there… It’s not a pretty place to be. In fact, it’s just like it says… torment. Torment is defined as severe physical and mental agony. I was holding onto the hurt of my past. In fact, clinging tightly to it. Until I let it go, the Holy Spirit couldn’t work in me.

Seek to forgive and seek forgiveness for yourself. Release the torment. Expel it. Let the Holy Spirit in. Let God’s love in and be blessed. God is love!

Prayer: Dear Father Yahweh, I lift up the reader of this devotion to You. I ask that the Holy Spirit would grip their heart with Your love causing them to let go and let Your love in cleansing them of the torment. Therefore, in return they would love everyone, as You do. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Patient Love

Ephesians_4-2 imageDay 16 – Patient Love

We all have our faults. It’s just the way life is. There’s going to be times when we get on each other’s nerves. However, God commands us to be patient in love with each other. We must make allowance for these faults. Be accepting and love anyway.

It’s hard to be upset or mad when you’re expressing true love. Just like yesterday’s message, it’s a choice. We choose to love and serve each other.

It’s an honor to be a child of God.

Prayer: Dear Father Yahweh, I seek to be patient in love. I pray for my fellow sisters in Christ to be patient in love as well. Thank You for the gift of love. We know that You are love. I pray that we will allow Your love to speak into our lives as well as from our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Free to Love

galatians-513 imageDay 15 – Free to Love

The Gift of Salvation is our get out of jail free pass that is permanent. However, having that freedom doesn’t give us license to be sinners. It’s a certificate of honor, a covenant between you and God. It’s a pledge to be God’s servant. A servant of joy, peace, kindness, etc.

We love with God’s love [Agape] and it compels us to serve one another in love. With that love you have phileo love.

You choose to love and serve each other. It’s a choice. You choose. I personally choose to love and serve. In doing so I am blessed. Each one can be blessed by choosing to love and serve.

What a Mighty God we serve! Praise Him!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father Yahweh, I pray for the almighty work of God to reach into our souls and spirits to love us in such a way that we want to give love and serve you and people. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Day 14 – Happy Valentine’s Day

Vday-1Peter imageRemembering from day 13’s message… Love each other deeply with all your heart. With the Holy Spirit living in you love can flow like a fountain!

Loving each other is a command from God. In Matthew 22:35-40 it says:

One Pharisee, who was an expert on the law of Moses, asked Jesus this question to test him: “Teacher, which command in the law is the most important?” Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ All the law and the writings of the prophets depend on these two commands.”

These commands are not to be taken lightly. It’s serious business.

Today, everywhere we turn we can hear someone saying they “love” someone or something. Do they realize what they’re saying? I don’t think humanity completely understands the true meaning of what love means.

True real love reflects what took place on the cross with Jesus crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection. It was a choice. He chooses to love us. But, the love is so much more than just a choice. It’s the actions, the emotion, and everything in between involved.

What actions of choice do you make toward a love like this?

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father Yahweh, I pray that we fully grasp the true meaning of love and put it into action. In Your precious holy name, amen.

Loving Each Other

Romans-13-8 imageDay 13 – Loving Each Other

Love fulfills the Law. In Galatians 5:14 Paul said:

The whole law is made complete in this one command: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” The only way we can love, as we should love, is to have the Love of God dwelling in us.

Jesus said in John 17:25-26:

Father, you are the One who is good. The world does not know you, but I know you, and these people know you sent me. I showed them what you are like, and I will show them again. Then they will have the same love that you have for me, and I will live in them.”

Jesus gave us a new commandment in John 13:34

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

And so that is how we love, as He loved; and thereby are we also loved of the Father. And if Christ truly dwells in your hearts by faith; then you shall also be rooted and grounded in His love. Having the Holy Spirit dwelling in us helps us to be able to love, even our enemies.

Love Everyone

Day 12 – Love Everyone

Leviticus 19:33-34
“Do not exploit the foreigners who live in your land. They should be treated like everyone else, and you must love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I, the LORD, am your God.”

love everyone imageChoosing to love strangers and enemies is commanded by God. If we have not love we have nothing. You don’t have to be their friend. Loving is a choice. Choose love. Even God chose to love us. Even when we were strangers to Him. If He can love a stranger, like the message a couple days ago about being adopted. He didn’t have to do that. He did it because He loves all people. If He can do it, so can we. Choose to love everyone. You’ll be glad you did.

Prayer: Dear Father Yahweh, please help and guide each reader and all your people to be lovers of everyone, like You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Love One Another

Day 11 – Love One Anotherlove-each-other image

Phileo – For the next week I’ll be talking about this.
The phileo love refers to an affectionate, warm and tender platonic love. It makes you desire friendship with someone. It’s the kind of love which livens up the Agape love. Although you may have an agape love for your enemies, you may not have a phileo love for the same people. The translation of the word phileo is love in the noun – form: it is how you feel about someone. It is a committed and chosen love.

God’s word tells us:

Leviticus 19:18 Forget about the wrong things people do to you, and do not try to get even. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.
Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’

It’s about choice and commitment. What choice will you make?

When you’re not loving people it means you’re not like them. That is a choice too. It’s about the attitudes and choices we make.

Choose an attitude of gratitude and commit to loving people. The choice to love will give you more  happiness in life. Who doesn’t want to be happy? Also, choosing love will give you blessings from God.

Adopted

Day 10 – Adopted

God, our Father in heaven persevered and planned our adoption patiently, looking to the time when we would be safely in His home, loved and cherished as children of His very own.
adopted image
Being adopted by God means that we are accepted into His family.

For us, this means that we have been given the name of Christ and have the right to be called Christians. Our inheritance is nothing less than the the property of our Heavenly Father-all the spiritual riches that are in Christ, both in the present life and in our life to come.

Our Father God is infinitely patient, wise and loving and the Bible tells us that the fact that God does discipline us is proof in itself that we have been adopted into His family.

Being adopted by God means that we are loved by the Almighty God.

God, Who Gave Himself For Me

galatians-220Day 9 – God, Who Gave Himself For Me

“Surely as we meditate on the love of the Lord, our hearts burn within us, and we long to love Him more.” -C. H. Spurgeon

Paul said in Galatians 2:20:

I was put to death on the cross with Christ, and I do not live anymore — it is Christ who lives in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself to save me.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior and we’re born again we aren’t who we used to be. Christ living in me causes me to desire to live by faith. There’s nothing I could ever do to repay Him.

However, we’re called to praise, worship and glorify Him, as well as, share The Good News of Salvation.

I don’t know about you, but, when something that grand and awesome happens I want to shout it from the mountaintops and rooftops to let everyone know of this great and awesome gift.

Meditate on Him. Pray and speak to God in love. Long for Him! Show Him you love Him.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Yahweh, I pray for the fire in my belly to grip me in such a way that I want to share Your great gift with everyone. I want everyone to experience Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

More Than Conquerors

Conquerors image

Day 8 – More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There’s nothing in all creation that can separate us from God’s love through Jesus because, for one, He created us and two, He adopted us into His family. The sacrifice of Salvation was our purchase price. There’s nothing bad enough that God won’t love us. Jesus’ Salvation wiped away all sin for all time that makes us clean in God’s eyes. It is finished. Satan is defeated. We can live a victorious life in Christ.
