Love One Another

Day 11 – Love One Anotherlove-each-other image

Phileo – For the next week I’ll be talking about this.
The phileo love refers to an affectionate, warm and tender platonic love. It makes you desire friendship with someone. It’s the kind of love which livens up the Agape love. Although you may have an agape love for your enemies, you may not have a phileo love for the same people. The translation of the word phileo is love in the noun – form: it is how you feel about someone. It is a committed and chosen love.

God’s word tells us:

Leviticus 19:18 Forget about the wrong things people do to you, and do not try to get even. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.
Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’

It’s about choice and commitment. What choice will you make?

When you’re not loving people it means you’re not like them. That is a choice too. It’s about the attitudes and choices we make.

Choose an attitude of gratitude and commit to loving people. The choice to love will give you more  happiness in life. Who doesn’t want to be happy? Also, choosing love will give you blessings from God.

Adopted

Day 10 – Adopted

God, our Father in heaven persevered and planned our adoption patiently, looking to the time when we would be safely in His home, loved and cherished as children of His very own.

Being adopted by God means that we are accepted into His family.

For us, this means that we have been given the name of Christ and have the right to be called Christians. Our inheritance is nothing less than the the property of our Heavenly Father-all the spiritual riches that are in Christ, both in the present life and in our life to come.

Our Father God is infinitely patient, wise and loving and the Bible tells us that the fact that God does discipline us is proof in itself that we have been adopted into His family.

Being adopted by God means that we are loved by the Almighty God.

God, Who Gave Himself For Me

galatians-220Day 9 – God, Who Gave Himself For Me

“Surely as we meditate on the love of the Lord, our hearts burn within us, and we long to love Him more.” -C. H. Spurgeon

Paul said in Galatians 2:20:

I was put to death on the cross with Christ, and I do not live anymore — it is Christ who lives in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself to save me.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior and we’re born again we aren’t who we used to be. Christ living in me causes me to desire to live by faith. There’s nothing I could ever do to repay Him.

However, we’re called to praise, worship and glorify Him, as well as, share The Good News of Salvation.

I don’t know about you, but, when something that grand and awesome happens I want to shout it from the mountaintops and rooftops to let everyone know of this great and awesome gift.

Meditate on Him. Pray and speak to God in love. Long for Him! Show Him you love Him.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Yahweh, I pray for the fire in my belly to grip me in such a way that I want to share Your great gift with everyone. I want everyone to experience Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

More Than Conquerors

Conquerors image

Day 8 – More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There’s nothing in all creation that can separate us from God’s love through Jesus because, for one, He created us and two, He adopted us into His family. The sacrifice of Salvation was our purchase price. There’s nothing bad enough that God won’t love us. Jesus’ Salvation wiped away all sin for all time that makes us clean in God’s eyes. It is finished. Satan is defeated. We can live a victorious life in Christ.

His Great Love

romans-5-8 imageDay 7 – His Great Love

Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

This is the ultimate sacrifice of love. I don’t know any mortal person who would do such a thing for all mankind from the beginning to the end of days. In fact, we see today that many people don’t understand true love. We have a skewed idea of what we think love is. We try our best to live out that idea. God’s word tells us. We need to surrender to Him and obey Him. When we love as God loves everything else falls into place.

Life Eternal

imageDay 6 – Life Eternal

Yeshua said in John 12:25-26 Those who love their lives will lose them, but those who hate their lives in this world will keep true life forever. Whoever serves me must follow me. Then my servant will be with me everywhere I am. My Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Loving and living for God gives us Eternal blessings. This builds on yesterday’s message, who your master is. Agape love sacrifices worldly love and serves God. It’s impossible to straddle the fence here. You have to choose between the world and God. Living for Eternity with God is much more preferable than being tormented with evil.

Who’s Your Master

servant2mastersDay 5 – Who’s Your Master?

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).

Apape love is all about sacrifice as well as giving and expecting nothing in return. It is a committed and chosen love. Therefore, it is a choice to love and serve God. If we choose to love and serve mammon (possessions), we’re sure to crash and burn. Choosing to love and serve God manifests great Eternal blessings.

Apage Love

Day 4 – Agape Love

imageThis is an unconditional love that sees beyond the outer surface and accepts the recipient for whom he/she is, regardless of their flaws, shortcomings or faults. It’s the type of love that everyone strives to have for their fellow human beings. Although you may not like someone, you decide to love them just as a human being. This kind of love is all about sacrifice as well as giving and expecting nothing in return. The translation of the word agape is love in the verb – form: it is the love demonstrated by your behavior towards another person. It is a committed and chosen love. This is the kind of love God is and gives.

We choose to love. God chooses to love us. He sees beyond the messy bits and loves us anyway. That’s the kind of love He wants us to have for mankind and Him.

God’s Love

Day 3 – God’s Love

God’s Love has far reaching boundaries. There’s nothing so bad that it imagewill stop God from loving us. Love in action is doing when doing needs to be done, without question.

I like this quote from Charles Swindoll: “Real love detects needs and does what is best for others without being told.”

John 3:16 shows the ultimate act of love. Jesus gave of himself as a sacrifice to save us from a sinful and painful eternal life.

Fruit of the Spirit

Day 2

Living by the Holy Spirit’s leading produces Godly Fruit. Without love we have none of them. Just like I mentioned yesterday, love is a selfless choice of action.

When we choose to love selflessly, we’re showing Godly love.
