Patience For Repentance

Human nature is impatient, don’t you agree? Generally, we don’t like waiting for things to happen. Perfect example; driving along and then getting stuck behind a slow moving vehicle. We want for them to pick up speed or get out of the way, right? OR we get in the check-out line for whatever purchase we’re making and we get stuck behind the person with everything except the kitchen sink to scan in, or behind someone with (what we consider) the spawn of satan.

Yes, I have these experiences. I’m an impatient person, I think. However, I’ve been told by many that I have the patience of Job. I won’t go into details, but, I’ve had some crazy life experiences.

The LORD is the perfect example of patience. He gives us every chance to make the correct choices to come to repentance so that none of us perish. He made us a promise, he doesn’t back out of it.

What are you waiting for? It’s your choice to accept Him and come to Him, repent of your sins. One day time will run out. What then?

Goodness and Light

2 Corinthians 6_14-18 image

Light brightens the dark. Good can overcame bad. However, they are polar opposites to each other. They can not be combined into one.

As the famous proverb goes:

“Oil and water don’t mix!”

I can attest to this. A precious relationship I had fits this description. The other person was toxic and bad influencing me. I severed that relationship.

Sometimes we need to sever relationships and get out of the toxic bad environment to heal and be a better temple of Yahweh. As well as His children. Yahweh says so.

If He says it’s so, then it is! No argument from me.

Gain On Earth Is Useless

We get all worked up about having “stuff” here on Earth. In reality, we’re more than sufficient without the “stuff”.

Human nature is to tie our identity up into stuff, how we dress, our jobs, and many other things.

When something happens to that “stuff” our world comes crashing down.

Yahweh has a different way of living life. See the scripture image to read what it is.

Yahweh is our sufficiency, not stuff.

In the end, stuff is useless and is not sufficient. Only Yahweh is our sufficiency.

Happy are they that mourn for the inadequacy of self, for they shall be comforted with the sufficiency of God.

Believing Faith Through Prayer

Mark 9:28-29 image

When Jesus, Peter, James, and John came back to the other followers, they saw a great crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. But as soon as the crowd saw Jesus, the people were surprised and ran to welcome him. Jesus asked, “What are you arguing about?” A man answered, “Teacher, I brought my son to you. He has an evil spirit in him that stops him from talking. When the spirit attacks him, it throws him on the ground. Then my son foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes very stiff. I asked your followers to force the evil spirit out, but they couldn’t.” Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. How long must I stay with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.” So the followers brought him to Jesus. As soon as the evil spirit saw Jesus, it made the boy lose control of himself, and he fell down and rolled on the ground, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been happening?” The father answered, “Since he was very young. The spirit often throws him into a fire or into water to kill him. If you can do anything for him, please have pity on us and help us.” Jesus said to the father, “You said, ‘If you can!’ All things are possible for the one who believes.” Immediately the father cried out, “I do believe! Help me to believe more!” When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he ordered the evil spirit, saying, “You spirit that makes people unable to hear or speak, I command you to come out of this boy and never enter him again!” The evil spirit screamed and caused the boy to fall on the ground again. Then the spirit came out. The boy looked as if he were dead, and many people said, “He is dead!” But Jesus took hold of the boy’s hand and helped him to stand up. When Jesus went into the house, his followers began asking him privately, “Why couldn’t we force that evil spirit out?” Jesus answered, “That kind of spirit can only be forced out by prayer.” Mark 9:14‭-‬29

An Atmosphere of Faith

In this passage Jesus tells us that “believing” is the condition for answered prayer for a healing. The father of the demon-possessed boy answered in tears, “I believe,” then added, “Help my unbelief!” Since faith is a gift, we may pray for it as this father did. Note how quickly God’s grace answered!

Jesus rebuked the disciples because they could not cast out the mute spirit, calling them “faithless” (v. 19). In Matthew’s account of this incident, Jesus said that if one has faith as a mustard seed he can move a mountain (Matt. 17:20).

But there is another lesson to be learned: where an atmosphere of unbelief makes it difficult to believe, we should seek a different setting. Even Jesus’ ability to work miracles was reduced where unbelief prevailed (Matt. 13:58). As we go through the day, let us not diminish Jesus’ ability to work in us. Prayer and praise provide an atmosphere of faith in God and welcome His presence in our lives.

Love Who?

Maintaining relationships are hard work. They need tending too.

Yahweh commands us, in Mark 12, to love our neighbor and Him.

Why You Need To Forgive

People struggle with forgiveness!

The natural reaction is to want to punish or get revenge on the one who hurt us.

Today’s scripture tells us Yahweh is the ultimate forgiver. When we repent and accept The Messiah – Yeshua as our Savior Yahweh erases our sins and forgets them.  It’s for His own sake. Because Yahweh is unable to be in the presence of sin. Because of His very nature: He is sinless. He is perfect. He is holy. He simply will not tolerate sin. Paul warns the willfully rebellious in Romans 2:5.

But you are stubborn and refuse to change, so you are making your own punishment even greater on the day he shows his anger. On that day everyone will see God’s right judgments. — Romans 2:5

There’s 5 types of forgiveness:

  1. human forgiveness, that of people extending forgiveness toward others
  2. divine forgiveness, Yahweh’s forgiving human beings
  3. unilateral forgiveness, one sided forgiveness – See Matthew 5 below.
  4. complete forgiveness, bilateral – Yeshua gives us this when we repent and accept Him as our Savior. 1 John 1:9 tells us:

    But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. — 1 John 1:9

  5. living in forgiveness, It includes seeking forgiveness from God through the redemptive work of Yeshua The Messiah and seeking complete forgiveness from anyone we have offended if, of course, they are available to forgive us. To live as completely forgiven is the right and joy of the committed Christian. It may involve going back to others who we have hurt through the years. It is an important aspect of moving towards the victorious Christian life.

An unforgiving spirit leads to bitterness, anger, and resentment. A heart with that type of attitude is not able to have true fellowship with Yahweh. Not holding grudges allows a state of mind that is ready and willing to forgive. Reconciliation is the goal, and if there cannot be reconciliation, a willingness to forgive must be maintained. There can be no excuse for withholding forgiveness from others.  Matthew 5 tells us:

But I tell you, if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be judged. If you say bad things to a brother or sister, you will be judged by the council. And if you call someone a fool, you will be in danger of the fire of hell.
“So when you offer your gift to God at the altar, and you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there at the altar. Go and make peace with that person, and then come and offer your gift. — Matthew 5:22-24

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. Lewis B. Smedes

Do you live a victorious Christian life? The quote by Lewis B. Smedes is an eye opener. I’ve experienced this in my life. When I did my expression was, “I feel like a caged bird set free”.
