Ahaz’s Sign of the Messiah

Scripture

Ahaz was threatened. He was assured the attack was fruitless. Then, God gives Ahaz a reliably certain sign by the promise of the long-expected Messiah.

God keeps His promises. God is trustworthy! We need to trust Him in what He says. We also need to learn to be patient.

But, wow, can you imagine receiving a message like that? The Messiah is coming! Hallelujah!

I would’ve been mind blown! My jaw would drop to the ground! I would’ve gone bonkers with excitement. I probably wouldn’t be able to sleep!

How would you react and feel if you were Ahaz and been told that news?

Prayer

Dear Abba YAH, I lift up the reader of this blog and pray that it blesses them and causes the lost to reach out to You and be found because of this amazing Messiah message! In Jesus’ precious and holy name, amen!

GOD; He Delivered Us!

Scripture

“Let us trust in that God who has often delivered us to do it still, to do it now! Let us not be so stunned, but have an eye to God in His word, not in an image; let us depend upon that, and upon the promises and predictions of it, and God’s power to accomplish them all. And let us know that the unbelief of man shall not make the word of God of no effect.” ~ Matthew Henry

God is my creator! There is none like Him and none can compare. There is no equal. He alone is The Almighty, omnipotent (infinite in power), omniscient (having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding; perceiving all things), omnipresent, (present everywhere, at all times, at the same time) God.

God, Yahweh, is my deliverer, now and always. He will manage with our without me. He has all control. He doesn’t need me to accomplish His plan. There is nothing I can offer Him to accomplish His plan.

All I need to do it trust, obey and have faith in Him and Him alone. What does that mean for me? How does it apply to my life? How can I apply it to my life? Here are my thoughts:

  1. Stop being selfish and thinking I can handle my life without God; because it’s not possible.
  2. Pray
  3. Be in His Word
    1. It is alive. Every time I read it God stretches me to learn more to apply more to my life.
  4. Have Christian fellowship with like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ knowing that God will use those relationships to sharpen me to more Christ-like.
  5. Stop believing the lies of the devil.
    1. If you need guidance here, message me and I’ll help.
  6. Live by example! Be Christ’s example to a lost world.

Dear Abba Yah, show me the way because a lot of times I’m so lost I’m unable to find my way. I trust You. I know You will never mislead me. I pray for the readers of this blog. I lift each of them up to You. I pray that they will earnestly surrender to You and divest themselves of all worldly things and follow You 100%. I pray this for myself as well. It’s easy to get distracted and veer off the path. Thank You in advance for hearing and answering my prayers, Yahweh. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God of Mercy!

Scripture

Read the full context here: 1 Samuel 14:38-46

Even when all odds are against me, God still has control. God’s grace and mercy… What an awesome and amazing God we serve!

Even though Jonathan and his armor-bearer were outnumbered God still caused them to have victory in the battle. Even though Jonathan sinned and ate the honey, God saw fit to allow Jonathan to live.

Jonathan trusted God. Do you trust God to help you through tight spots in life’s circumstances? I struggle with this on occasion. I trust God more and more every day.

How does this apply to us today? How can we apply this to our lives today?

Here are my thoughts:

  • Stop getting caught up in all the drama surrounding us.
    • Yes, I know that people do their best to suck us in.
    • Yes, our emotions can run amuck with situations.
    • All these things are choices we make.
    • It’s also about the attitudes we choose.
  • We need to make better choices for our lives to avoid getting sucked into other’s drama.
  • When something involves us, we need to choose to control our emotions.
    • Decisions made out of an emotional situation never end well. Our emotions are fickle. We need to remain calm, clear, and level-headed.
  • We also need to pay close attention to our attitudes.
    • Attitudes toward situations determine the outcome of said situation.
  • Pray over all things and situations all the time.

Dear Abba Yah, Adonai Yeshua, I lift each reader up to You. I ask that You guide their hearts, minds, soul, and spirits in a God-honoring and glorifying way. Show them the direction to take. I lift up the sick, injured, and spiritually hurting, Yahweh. I pray they will find peace of mind and body in You. I pray healing over them, in Jesus’ name. I thank You in advance for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

No King

Scripture
Read the full text of scripture to get the full context of what’s really happening here.

——————————————–
My take away of today’s scripture:
Even though God was their King, every man acted as his own master, as if there was no king. Blessed be God for sovereignty.

Reminds me of what a great deal of the people today is like. They want to be their own kings. It is such a sad and needless tragedy of events.

God is still on the throne and in charge. He uses everything for His good will. We may not know or understand. It doesn’t matter. We don’t need to. God has it all worked out. Why do I say that? What do you say?

How does this apply to us today? How do we apply this to our lives today? Here are my thoughts:

  • We need to learn to trust God in all things.
  • We need to obey God in all things.
  • God has our backs.
  • We need to commune with God, daily; hourly.
  • Rejoice in Him always. Be happy. It’s a choice, ya know!
  • Mostly, we need to be in His word daily, praying earnestly, and being in fellowship with our Christian/church family.
  • We need to lift each other up; not tear each other down.

Dear Abba Yah, thank You. You are the almighty, the alpha and omega. There is none other like You. You are our creator and our great physician. I pray for the spiritually ill lifting them up to You. I ask for You to reach into their souls, hearts, and minds to cajole them to You. I pray that each one reading this blog will be blessed by You and reach out to You. Thank You, in advance, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Divine Birth Announcement

Scripture

Samson’s birth announcement to his parents. What a shock it must’ve been to them! Manoah’s wife was barren of conceiving a child. God would use Samson to rescue Israel from the Philistines. The Lord blessed him as he grew up. Then, the Spirit of the Lord stirred him.

I find it quite fascinating how God uses barren women to bring about such miraculous things. What does that say of who and what God is?

What does this scripture say to you? What is God teaching in this scripture? I believe God uses everything to serve His purpose and plans. So, how does this apply to us today? How can we apply this lesson to our lives today? Here are my thoughts:

  • We can be encouraged to continue our hope in God’s mercy.
  • Husbands and wives should tell each other their experiences of fellowship with God, and their growth in understanding with Him, because they may help each other in the way that’s holy. As well, as children with their parents in this case. It could help everyone all around. The innocence of a child and how God uses them is amazing.
  • Where God gives His blessing, He gives His Spirit to qualify for the blessing. Those are blessed indeed who the Spirit of grace begins to work in them during their childhood.
  • Hang in there! Don’t give up!

Dear Abba Yahweh, I lift up the readers of this blog to You. I ask that they seek You and know You. I pray that they allow You to work in them for Your good and holy grace and for Your purpose in all of our lives. I pray for their needs to be met and that they live fully for You. Thank You for allowing this blog to be a blessing to those You bless from it. Thank You in advance for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Vow

Scripture To read the full text of this scripture go to Judges 11:29-40

A vow is of vital importance. That’s one main reason why vows are also used in a wedding ceremony. God’s word holds vows to a high standard.
Deuteronomy 23:21-23 says this:
“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, be prompt in fulfilling whatever you promised him. For the Lord your God demands that you promptly fulfill all your vows, or you will be guilty of sin. However, it is not a sin to refrain from making a vow. But once you have voluntarily made a vow, be careful to fulfill your promise to the Lord your God.

Jephthah was no different. He kept his vow. His one and only child, his daughter, accepted and was ok with the vow her father made. She made only one request and he granted her that request. He waited for her return home before he fulfilled the vow he made to God.

My friend, Andrea, and a bible reading group member, made an astute observation and insight on this scripture reading. She said, “I think God wanted us to understand what it was like to sacrifice one’s only child through this story. Jephthah’s daughter was his only child and a virgin. She was also willing to die. It’s kind of a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ.”

God will work out His plan in our lives’ with or without us being on board. Jephthah’s daughter was on board. What a great child. Jesus was also on board. He was willing to give His life for the salvation of all people of all time. Not everyone will accept that free gift. But, that is also part of God’s plan. How has accepting Jesus’ free gift of salvation affected your life?

How does this apply to our lives today? How do we apply it to our lives today?

Here’s what I believe:

  1. We must take God seriously.
    • He’s not just some fairytale that we tell stories from.
    • He’s real; He’s alive and so is His word.
      • Each time we read His word they must feel like they’re jumping off the pages at us and speaking directly to us. What we read one time and gain insight from may not be the same the next time. He may be telling us something else the next time. That’s how dynamic His word (The Holy Bible) is.
  2. We must be about the Father’s business.
    • We must be so in tune with the Father that we don’t even realize or know anything else about everyone and everything that is going on around us. He’ll meet our needs. Trust Him!
    • Here’s a quoted story as an example:
A lady went to her Pastor and said: “Pastor, I won’t be going to your church anymore.” The Pastor responded, “But why?” The lady said “Ah! I saw a woman gossiping about another member; a man that is a hypocrite; the worship team living wrong; people looking at their phone during service; among so many other things wrong in your church.”
The Pastor replied, “OK. But before you go, do me a favor: take a full glass of water and walk around the church three times without spilling a drop on the ground. Afterward, leave the church if you desire.” The lady thought: too easy! She walked three times around the church as the Pastor had asked. When she finished she told the Pastor she was ready to leave.
The Pastor said, “Before you leave I want to ask you one more question. When you were walking around the church, did you see anyone gossiping?” The lady replied “No.” “Did you see any hypocrites?” The lady said “No.” “Anyone looking at their phone?” “No.” “You know why?” “No.”
“You were focused on the glass, to make sure you didn’t stumble and spill any water. It’s the same with our life. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we don’t have time to see the mistakes of others. We will reach out a helping hand to them and concentrate on our own walk with the Lord.”
  3. What else can you come up with? I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Jesus, thank You for this great insight. Thank You for the gift of salvation. Thank You for Your grace. I lift up all those who read this post and pray for their needs to be met; no matter what they are. You’re the Almighty, Who can make anything happen. I pray that those who read this devotion with fully surrender to You and fully seek You. Thank You in advance for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Knowing the Will of God!

Scripture
“If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE Lord YOUR GOD, Deuteronomy 28:58; If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching. 1 John 1:8‭-‬10

If ever we say we don’t know the will of God… It’s because we ignore His word. His word is alive and vibrant. It’s within the pages of His Holy Word; The Holy Bible.

Obeying God blesses us. By obeying Him the blessings will come and stay with us.

We mustn’t be in denial that we’re a sinful people. We can accept that and then confess our sins so that He will forgive us and cleanse us. Otherwise, we are in essence saying God is a liar. It’s impossible for God to lie. So, we’re the ones in the wrong, not God.

We must stop being in denial of the Truth of God and start submitting to Him and obeying Him. We must surrender our selfish, self-centeredness to Him. We must stop limiting Him in our lives. It’s easy. Just do it! (My [Kimberly’s] favorite quote by Nike, the shoe company!)

There are no excuses. We must wake up to ourselves and realize that we’re holding God back in our lives. We also must realize that we’re unable to save ourselves. There’s nothing we can do to save ourselves. God doesn’t need our help.

Be blessed by the BEST, God!

Dear Adonai, Abba Yah, I pray for forgiveness of sins I don’t even realize I’m committing as well as the readers of this devo blog. Also, blatant sins that we know we’re doing and are just being complacent of them and ignoring the truth of the matter and being defiant toward You. Show us the way, the truth, to You. Thank You in advance, Abba Yah, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Intercessory Prayer

Daniel 9_20-21 image

It’s phenomenal nonetheless awe-inspiring: Yahweh petitions us to collaborate with Him, to battle for what He purposes. Therefore prophetic achievement can be trained on human response. Daniel is an example. Knowing from Jeremiah’s prophecy that seventy years was to be the extent of the imprisonment of Yahweh’s people (Jer. 25:12; 29:10), Daniel humbled himself to be a co-worker in intercessory prayer with this prophecy.

So Daniel writes that “while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God,” the angel Gabriel was sent to liberate Yahweh’s restorative hope for His people (Dan. 9:20–23). So, Israel’s move back to the Promised Land took place as promised by the prophet Jeremiah.

What if Daniel hadn’t prayed? What if Yahweh hadn’t found anyone to “stand in the gap” (Ezek. 20:30, 31 )? Will you be one who co-labors with Yahweh’s promises to see the accomplishment of His saving plans for this age? If not, why not? If so, why so? Comment and let’s chat about what that looks like.

While the cost of serving Yahweh is vast, the blessings considerably exceed any difficulties. Who’s ready to receive blessings? Comment and let’s chat about it.

Prayer: The Tool Of Spiritual Warfare

2 Cor 10_3-4 image

Toolboxes or tool belts. We all have them. Some are mental toolboxes. We have all these defense mechanisms in place. Each one is a tool to help us through life. The one main tool that most people lack is prayer. It’s one of the most powerful tools we can possess.

Prayer interprets spiritual action into effective headway. Our warfare demands spirit-filled, Bible-quoting, Holy Spirit-directed, supernatural prayer. This prayer hurls down the works of the devil, closes the mouth of the liar, and heals the minds of those trapped by their own disobedience.

Examine your tool boxes. If prayer is missing, add it. For obvious reasons.

First step: Seek Yahweh and surrender to His obedience.

Second step: Add prayer and build your relationship with Yahweh.

Finally, find like-minded believers and have fellowship, learning the Bible, applying it to your life.

I did this a long time ago and it’s been a great and blessed thing in my life. It can be for all of you too.

Comment, let me know how I can pray for you.

The Actual Adversary

Ephesians 6_10-13 image

The purpose is clearly described; our adversary is spiritual. Maintaining a clear focus on the real character of our demonic attackers is needed.

A vast amount of a believer’s time is wasted, energy exhausted, and injury gained because we consume ourselves feuding people (flesh and blood) rather than that of the spiritual legions at work in a circumstance.

In the process of trying to fight believers into a loss in their personal lives, the adversary tries to redirect the force of our “spiritual” warfare toward others; in our families, our churches, our work place, and community.

The devil understands completely these two conditions: [1] if we begin attacking other people, they will assuredly accommodate us and fight back, and [2] that if we begin attacking each other, we will never get around to conquering him.

So, whatever (or whoever) you are confronted with today, make up your mind concerning the dispute. Our adversary is the devil. As we make war in prayer and make peace with those around us, the devil stands no chance of being triumphant in our lives.

How can I pray for you today? Contact me now with our request.

Me: I have my days. Some days are harder than others. I’ve fought against people when it was clearly a spiritual battle. We need to be fully aware and just know that when you’re confronted with something, turn to prayer, and read The Word, worship Yahweh. In Jesus’ name, I rebuke the adversary. He falls powerless at the name of Jesus! There’s so much more that can be said here. But, this isn’t the place nor the time to do it. Just pray in Jesus’ name!
