No King

Scripture
Read the full text of scripture to get the full context of what’s really happening here.

——————————————–
My take away of today’s scripture:
Even though God was their King, every man acted as his own master, as if there was no king. Blessed be God for sovereignty.

Reminds me of what a great deal of the people today is like. They want to be their own kings. It is such a sad and needless tragedy of events.

God is still on the throne and in charge. He uses everything for His good will. We may not know or understand. It doesn’t matter. We don’t need to. God has it all worked out. Why do I say that? What do you say?

How does this apply to us today? How do we apply this to our lives today? Here are my thoughts:

  • We need to learn to trust God in all things.
  • We need to obey God in all things.
  • God has our backs.
  • We need to commune with God, daily; hourly.
  • Rejoice in Him always. Be happy. It’s a choice, ya know!
  • Mostly, we need to be in His word daily, praying earnestly, and being in fellowship with our Christian/church family.
  • We need to lift each other up; not tear each other down.

Dear Abba Yah, thank You. You are the almighty, the alpha and omega. There is none other like You. You are our creator and our great physician. I pray for the spiritually ill lifting them up to You. I ask for You to reach into their souls, hearts, and minds to cajole them to You. I pray that each one reading this blog will be blessed by You and reach out to You. Thank You, in advance, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Divine Birth Announcement

Scripture

Samson’s birth announcement to his parents. What a shock it must’ve been to them! Manoah’s wife was barren of conceiving a child. God would use Samson to rescue Israel from the Philistines. The Lord blessed him as he grew up. Then, the Spirit of the Lord stirred him.

I find it quite fascinating how God uses barren women to bring about such miraculous things. What does that say of who and what God is?

What does this scripture say to you? What is God teaching in this scripture? I believe God uses everything to serve His purpose and plans. So, how does this apply to us today? How can we apply this lesson to our lives today? Here are my thoughts:

  • We can be encouraged to continue our hope in God’s mercy.
  • Husbands and wives should tell each other their experiences of fellowship with God, and their growth in understanding with Him, because they may help each other in the way that’s holy. As well, as children with their parents in this case. It could help everyone all around. The innocence of a child and how God uses them is amazing.
  • Where God gives His blessing, He gives His Spirit to qualify for the blessing. Those are blessed indeed who the Spirit of grace begins to work in them during their childhood.
  • Hang in there! Don’t give up!

Dear Abba Yahweh, I lift up the readers of this blog to You. I ask that they seek You and know You. I pray that they allow You to work in them for Your good and holy grace and for Your purpose in all of our lives. I pray for their needs to be met and that they live fully for You. Thank You for allowing this blog to be a blessing to those You bless from it. Thank You in advance for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Vow

Scripture To read the full text of this scripture go to Judges 11:29-40

A vow is of vital importance. That’s one main reason why vows are also used in a wedding ceremony. God’s word holds vows to a high standard.
Deuteronomy 23:21-23 says this:
“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, be prompt in fulfilling whatever you promised him. For the Lord your God demands that you promptly fulfill all your vows, or you will be guilty of sin. However, it is not a sin to refrain from making a vow. But once you have voluntarily made a vow, be careful to fulfill your promise to the Lord your God.

Jephthah was no different. He kept his vow. His one and only child, his daughter, accepted and was ok with the vow her father made. She made only one request and he granted her that request. He waited for her return home before he fulfilled the vow he made to God.

My friend, Andrea, and a bible reading group member, made an astute observation and insight on this scripture reading. She said, “I think God wanted us to understand what it was like to sacrifice one’s only child through this story. Jephthah’s daughter was his only child and a virgin. She was also willing to die. It’s kind of a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ.”

God will work out His plan in our lives’ with or without us being on board. Jephthah’s daughter was on board. What a great child. Jesus was also on board. He was willing to give His life for the salvation of all people of all time. Not everyone will accept that free gift. But, that is also part of God’s plan. How has accepting Jesus’ free gift of salvation affected your life?

How does this apply to our lives today? How do we apply it to our lives today?

Here’s what I believe:

  1. We must take God seriously.
    • He’s not just some fairytale that we tell stories from.
    • He’s real; He’s alive and so is His word.
      • Each time we read His word they must feel like they’re jumping off the pages at us and speaking directly to us. What we read one time and gain insight from may not be the same the next time. He may be telling us something else the next time. That’s how dynamic His word (The Holy Bible) is.
  2. We must be about the Father’s business.
    • We must be so in tune with the Father that we don’t even realize or know anything else about everyone and everything that is going on around us. He’ll meet our needs. Trust Him!
    • Here’s a quoted story as an example:
A lady went to her Pastor and said: “Pastor, I won’t be going to your church anymore.” The Pastor responded, “But why?” The lady said “Ah! I saw a woman gossiping about another member; a man that is a hypocrite; the worship team living wrong; people looking at their phone during service; among so many other things wrong in your church.”
The Pastor replied, “OK. But before you go, do me a favor: take a full glass of water and walk around the church three times without spilling a drop on the ground. Afterward, leave the church if you desire.” The lady thought: too easy! She walked three times around the church as the Pastor had asked. When she finished she told the Pastor she was ready to leave.
The Pastor said, “Before you leave I want to ask you one more question. When you were walking around the church, did you see anyone gossiping?” The lady replied “No.” “Did you see any hypocrites?” The lady said “No.” “Anyone looking at their phone?” “No.” “You know why?” “No.”
“You were focused on the glass, to make sure you didn’t stumble and spill any water. It’s the same with our life. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we don’t have time to see the mistakes of others. We will reach out a helping hand to them and concentrate on our own walk with the Lord.”
  3. What else can you come up with? I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Jesus, thank You for this great insight. Thank You for the gift of salvation. Thank You for Your grace. I lift up all those who read this post and pray for their needs to be met; no matter what they are. You’re the Almighty, Who can make anything happen. I pray that those who read this devotion with fully surrender to You and fully seek You. Thank You in advance for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Testing Israel, by God!

Scripture

You know, there are huge similarities to all of us today regarding today’s scripture. Look at the way America (the world for that matter) is now. It’s a disgrace to the name of Yahweh! Just awful! Yahweh will make it right! Jesus is returning… And man, what strife people will be in then! God is more than enough!

What should we do? How do we apply this to our life? Here are my thoughts:

  • I, personally, need to be obedient to Yahweh.
  • I, personally, need to stop being selfish.
  • I, personally, need to share the Gospel.
    • Plants seeds.
    • Pray over those seeds.
    • Leave it with God. He’s got it under control.
  • I, personally, need to trust God in His plan.
    • His word says He has a plan for me and you. It’s not my job to take the wheel and steer wherever I please. That’s destructive. (Been there; done that! I learned my lesson.)
  • His goal was to carry out his plan, when the right time came, that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head. In Christ, we were chosen to be God’s people, because from the very beginning God had decided this in keeping with his plan. And he is the One who makes everything agree with what he decides and wants. Ephesians 1:10-11
  • I, personally, need to be on my knees in prayer seeking to make right what I might have done wrong and making myself right with Yahweh in all I say and do. It’s a great goal for everyone.

Dear Yahweh, I come, prostrate before you. I seek You. Please show me, use me, and make right what I can help with. I pray the readers of this blog post will do the same. Cleanse all filth from every crack and crevice of my wretchedness so I may be worthy of Your name and to say Your name. Thank YOU for saving me through Jesus shed blood and body, in Your name. Thank YOU that He took on my sin, and of all others as well. You are amazing and wonderful, Yahweh. Thank You, in advance, for hearing and answering my prayers. In Jesus’ holy precious name, amen.

Serve the LORD!

Scripture

My takeaway:
The ancient ancestors spent a lot of time worshipping idols. God told them they had to choose between Him or their idols.

He already gave us the Ten Commandments. One of those commandments was to have no other gods before Him. It seems like a “no duh” thing. However, He does give us a choice.

Well, the people replied in v. 16: “We would never abandon the Lord and serve other gods.” Just before that, Joshua said, “But, as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

I do too! I serve Yahweh! It’s our choice. Whatever the choice, we will reap the consequences of that choice.

Let’s remember what God has done, is doing, and will continue doing as He says He will. Remember His blessings & promises. He “is” faithful! How shall we accomplish this? How will we apply this to our lives?

  • First, we must give up all our idols.
    They do us no good!
  • Second, we replace those idols with
    a. God’s word.
    b. Prayer.
    c. Christian family fellowship, praise, and worship to HIM only.
    d. Becoming a disciple of Him and sharing the Gospel of Jesus to help lead the lost sheep to the Shepherd/Jesus.
  • Finally, if you’re one of those lost sheep being brought into the fold/family of GOD, reach out to me so I can pray with and for you, help you find a Christian family if you don’t have one, yet, and to make sure you don’t fall through the cracks and get forgotten.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Yahweh, El Shaddai, I lift up those who are on the precipice teetering one way or the other, ready to go which way or another. I pray that they lean into YOU. I pray they find peace in YOU and serve only YOU. Thank You, Yahweh, for all those reading today’s scripture and devotion. I pray they are blessed. Thank You, Yahweh, in advance, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Knowing the Will of God!

Scripture
“If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE Lord YOUR GOD, Deuteronomy 28:58; If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching. 1 John 1:8‭-‬10

If ever we say we don’t know the will of God… It’s because we ignore His word. His word is alive and vibrant. It’s within the pages of His Holy Word; The Holy Bible.

Obeying God blesses us. By obeying Him the blessings will come and stay with us.

We mustn’t be in denial that we’re a sinful people. We can accept that and then confess our sins so that He will forgive us and cleanse us. Otherwise, we are in essence saying God is a liar. It’s impossible for God to lie. So, we’re the ones in the wrong, not God.

We must stop being in denial of the Truth of God and start submitting to Him and obeying Him. We must surrender our selfish, self-centeredness to Him. We must stop limiting Him in our lives. It’s easy. Just do it! (My [Kimberly’s] favorite quote by Nike, the shoe company!)

There are no excuses. We must wake up to ourselves and realize that we’re holding God back in our lives. We also must realize that we’re unable to save ourselves. There’s nothing we can do to save ourselves. God doesn’t need our help.

Be blessed by the BEST, God!

Dear Adonai, Abba Yah, I pray for forgiveness of sins I don’t even realize I’m committing as well as the readers of this devo blog. Also, blatant sins that we know we’re doing and are just being complacent of them and ignoring the truth of the matter and being defiant toward You. Show us the way, the truth, to You. Thank You in advance, Abba Yah, for hearing and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

City Officials

Scripture

It seems that those instructions in today’s scripture are still happening except, many of the judges and officers are corrupt! It’s a hot mess! When God is taken out of the public corruption is bound to take place. We need to get God back into all the places He’s been taken out of.

How; you wonder? Well, I believe we need to stand up for God, not back down. We need to stand firm on God’s word. We must stop allowing ourselves to be bullied by the corrupt people who push us around. We need to be in God’s word to gain a foothold. We need to be in communion with God, every day. Not when it suits us.

Dear Adonai, Abba Yah, I pray for Your children to stand firm in You. I pray that we stop allowing bullies to push us around and that we can put You back into the public where you’ve been removed. Show us what to do, Yah. I pray all this in Jesus’ holy precious name, amen.

A Warning From God

Scripture:

God is warning the people. This warning is relevant to current day as well. Why?

One, because people are just as rebellious and forgetful today of God’s commands, promises, and blessings. Two, because people want to do things in their own steam. Three, people simply don’t trust God.

We’re hoodwinked by satan. He disguises himself like Granny, our best friend, or some sort of tasty food we really like. That being said, satan is good at mimicking and lying.

We, for some odd reason, believe lies told to us as if they are the truth. Therein lies the rub.

Why do we do that? Please leave a comment or a prayer request.

One reason I believe that we believe the lies is because we lack the true understanding of God’s word. The second reason, I believe is because people are rebellious. Just like a little kid who wants their way. Finally, a question for us; what then should we do?

Application:

  • Pray continually.
You can do this with your eyes open. That way you can pray while you’re driving, etc.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says this: Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.
  • Spend personal quiet time with God studying His word and talking with Him.
You can do this anytime. There are no hard and fast rules on when and where to do this. I do it mostly in the early morning. Sometimes, though, I do it in the middle of the day or even at night.
  • Get together with other fellow Christians; fellowship, worship, and praise God together. Be uplifting and encouraged by what you gain from this. Be very careful about fake Christianity, however. You will be led astray faster than you can say, “Hippity Hoppity”. Being in The Word and praying to God will make it very clear when you’re in the presence of fake Christians.
  • Make sure you’re attending services and being fed by a shepherd of God’s word. The previous bullet point comment about fake Christianity stands here also. False teaching is everywhere these days. Know the difference.

Prayer: Dear Father God, I lift up the readers of this blog. I pray for their spiritual well being and that they would seek You in all their coming in and going out. Thank You for Your word to help keep us on track. Thank You for Jesus being our Salvation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Romans Road to Salvation

Today's Word - Romans Road to Salvation imageIn the book of John Jesus and Nicodemus had a whole conversation about being born again.

Nicodemus even questioned about entering his mother’s womb again because he was confused about being born again.

Then, Jesus so lovingly explained to Nicodemus that it wasn’t a physical rebirth, but a spiritual rebirth.

That means because humans are wretched and wicked hearted because of the original sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden at the time of the Creation:

  1. You must be born of the Spirit and of water.
  2. That means the next thing to do is, vocally expressing that you believe and accept Jesus as your Savior.
  3. However, to move forward with your being born again, you must sincerely repent of (turn away and not go back to) all sin in your life.
  4. Also, by profession of your faith, being baptized with immersion in water.
  5. Living a life reflecting Jesus Christ.
    1. So, you would then need to find a Bible believing, preaching, and teaching church family to be a part of to help you grow in our faith.
  6. At some point, it would be good to grown enough (spiritually maturing) in your faith to the point that you also share the gospel (basically, what I’m doing here, in a way) to lead others to the saving grace of Jesus as their Savior.

The scripture image is the Romans Road to Salvation, which is used widely by many Christians to help a person become saved and reborn.

Where do you stand? I’ve left this post sparse on purpose. It’s meant to cause you to question your faith as well as to ask questions to get clarity and if you’re not born again, to hopefully lead you to be born again.
