Purposeful Life

Psalm_100_1-2_4-5

With all the social issues going on around us we need to bring out focus back to our Creator, Yahweh. So, this message is strong.

Man was created to live and breathe in an atmosphere of praise-filled worship to The Creator.

Without Yahweh, we are nothing less than self-centered, self-pitying, and complaining (see Gen.3:9–12). But upon receiving salvation and life through Jesus Christ, our daily living calls us to prayer and the Word for fellowship and wisdom in living.

Our daily drawing near to God in that union is to be showered with praise: “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving And into His courts with praise.” Such a walk of praise-filled acceptance to Him will nurture deep devotion, faithful obedience, and constant joy.

We can move into each day that we live knowing that a praise walk is not wild and offhand, nor decreased to insignificant ritual but, a walk of life-saving power is available to those of us who believe in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is a renewing spirit. The Bible says: He saved us because of His mercy. It was not because of good deeds we did to be right with him. He saved us through the washing that made us new people through the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5).

In order to be renewed by the Spirit, the author, Sherwood Wirt, in his book, Afterglow says,

“We must go to the cross, not only to kneel in reverence, not only to bow in commitment, not only to pick up our cross and carry it but, to be crucified.”

Self-crucifixion means that Christ will send His power into us as individuals by the same Spirit. But, first, as another author/evangelist, Richard Bennet says,

“The Christian has to attend his own funeral–willingly.”

I know, that sounds creepy. But, it’s the truth, isn’t it? We must attend our own carnal spiritual funeral, first, willingly.

I know that is a tough thing to do. However, it’s required to live a Christ-centered life.

I struggle too! You’re not alone.

God Almighty

Luke_1_37 imageWhere do you find yourself in life?

Last night my husband and I attended the 2nd, in a series, Bible study at our home church. It’s titled: Growing in God.

I noticed a trend in the responses of the attendees. The trend was that we all wanted to focus on our relationship with God and have a better prayer life, as well as, being in His Word more.

The other thing? We get in our own way on our path to maturity in our faith and believing in an all-powerful God who can do anything.

We tend to think that we have to do everything ourselves to make things happen when and where and how we want. We do not trust Yahweh to allow Him to take the pilot’s seat in our lives.

We need to step back, take a deep look at our faith walk, and take notice of what’s going on.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What am I doing?
  • Am I in my own way?
  • What do I need to do to step aside and let Yahweh have control?
  • Do I trust Yahweh? If not, why?

Once you work out the answers to these questions apply them to your life.

Remember, Yahweh can do anything!

What’s In A Leader?

1_Peter_5_3-5 image

Real leadership is humility. Jesus said: Whoever wants to become first among you must serve the rest of you like a slave. In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.” (Matthew 20:27-28). Therefore, as we assume the role of leadership, we should do so with the attitude of Christ.

True leaders are servants first.

What are you doing to be a leader/servant? What style of leader/servant do you have?

Teamwork

Ecclesiastes_4_9-12

We’ve all experienced this concept in life. I like this quote:

“United We Stand Divided We Fall” – Aesop

We’ve all been told by our elders when growing up and even as adults to go together wherever we go in public because two are safer than one.

All throughout history some form of this has been stated.

Well, we see in Yahweh’s word that He also says it. Why, because it’s true!

The part about the rope that is woven of three strands is hard to break is very true as well. A good rope made properly is very sturdy. We see ships use a very strong rope to tie off a ship to the dock. Cattle ropers use a good strong rope to rope and tie cattle they’re trying to separate from a herd.

So, the truth of the matter is that two or more is better and stronger than one.

Who’s your team/tribe? Do you have one? If not, why? If so, comment your testimony of your experience with teamwork.

Me? My tribe is the intimate circle of women I experience life with. My larger tribe is the women in this ministry. Even though some or most you have never met me in real life have had some experience with me here online. What has that been like for you? Answer in the comments.

Character Flaws

Hebrews_12_6-11

Our homes, labs of human experience, provide the climate for spiritual education.

When some character flaw (sin) is revealed in us, we must take that flaw to our Lord for His help in correcting it.

Yahweh is our disciplinarian. He administers our punishment and corrections.

While discipline isn’t a joy ride and is painful at times, later, after learning from it, we will have peace, because we start living in the right way.

We all have character flaws that need discipline and correcting. All one needs to do is to “people watch”. You know what I mean. Go to the mall and sit and just watch. The other place could be a public park or garden with people. Central Park, in NY, for example. That’s a huge place. One would never run out of places to sit and people watch. All sort of things can be seen by people watching. I suppose that’s why there is the entertainment industry. We like to watch other’s flaws, and forget we have any. Until all of a sudden, a scene strikes a nerve in you. All because it reminds you of yourself. Don’t deny it. It’s true.

We need to surrender to Yahweh and allow Him to correct us. To make us more like Him.

How are you doing at surrendering to Him and being obedient? Comment and share your experience. The good and bad.

We all need to see that we’re not alone in this thing. Let’s bless each other! Yes, me too! That’s what I’m saying above. I people watch and then get struck! I’m guilty!

God Imitators

Ephesians_5_1-2_5

The character that we bear of God’s children obliges us to resemble Him, especially in His love and goodness, in His mercy and readiness to forgive.

As the sacrifice of Christ was satisfyingly effective with God, so His example should be prevailing with us, and we should carefully copy it.

There’s no room for evildoing! You don’t do evildoing, you say? Are you sure of that?

Let’s do a quick mental check:

  • Expressing a bad attitude
  • Hoping for someone else’s bad fortune
  • Plotting revenge

Need I go on?

Over the years I’ve noticed a trend in people expressing their minds about how they believe so and so deserves to get a taste of their own medicine. That kind of thinking is sinful. Yahweh isn’t particularly excited that we’re thinking, talking, nor acting on this attitude. It’s clear in His word!

Yes, on occasion I’ve fallen prey to that thinking. I’m not immune to sin. Shocker, I know! None of us is immune to sin. We’re born into it. Yahweh’s word tells us we are. Go see for yourselves. I encourage you to pour over and delve into His word. Learn what it says. Be imitators of HIM! Not imitators of the world.

Are you an imitator of Yahweh? If so, comment your experience. Let’s talk.

Supreme Love

Trust is the supreme expression of love. Therefore, it may mean more to Yahweh when we say, “I trust you,” than when we say, “I love you.”

Yahweh not only provides the rules and guidelines but comes with us personally each day to strengthen us so that we can live according to those rules. All we must do is trust Him, invite Him, and respond to His direction.

Wait patiently and He will fulfill His promises.

It’s in the waiting patiently that we are blessed and in turn, bless others.

I challenge each of you to patiently wait on the promises of Yahweh to be fulfilled.

Will you join me? Leave a comment and let me know you accept the challenge.

New Beginnings

Yahweh wants to do a new thing in your life.

Isaiah_43_18-21

This is a way to motivate you, the hearer & reader, to seek a new vision and a new interest in the things of God.

The main thing is embracing the new thing what God wants to do in your life is to change your focus — quit looking behind, start looking ahead.

Quote: “Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.” -unknown

Look at how far you’ve come in growing in your faith.

You cannot allow your past failures to possess you. Do not dwell on the negative of the past.

HE is giving you an opportunity to start over.

The question isn’t what has Yahweh done –the question must be:

  • What is Yahweh doing in your life right now?
  • What is it that you want Him to do in your life right now?

Comment on the new thing Yahweh is working in your life right now.

Me? I’m still working that out. I’m open to Him. Are you? If not, why? Let me know.

Don’t Love The World

Luke_14_26-33Jesus Christ has left principles and guidelines to govern every Christian home; and if we really love Him, we will keep His commandments.

We literally are required to love Yahweh more than anything else. Anything else is rejecting Yahweh.

When you reject Yahweh life will be miserable beyond expression. If you say you love Yahweh, but your life says different, then it’s a lie.

Yahweh must come first! Do you give of your firsts to Yahweh? If not, why? This world is temporary! It will go away at some point. What will you say to Yahweh when you meet Him at Judgment? How will you answer Him when He asks you what you’ve done with Jesus in your life?

I personally struggle with worldly vs heavenly. Satan, the enemy, is constantly yipping (condemning me) at my heals like an annoying dog barking for attention, telling me lies to coerce me to his way. It’s compelling. He makes it looks so pretty and attractive that it is hard to resist. The worst part? The complacency virus. It has infected all of human life.

The only way to beat complacency is to get busy with the work of Yahweh and building your relationship with Him.

How? You ask?

First, stop believing satan’s lies. Second, get in The Word of Yahweh and read, pray, and live for Yahweh. Last, but not least, get into fellowship with Christ’s body. Surround yourself with Godly people who can feed you and help nurture you in Yahweh.

Comment and let me know that you will, with Yahweh by your side, fight the enemy, because the victory is ours. The battle’s already won!
